Aspiring indie game developer with a passion for software development, learning, progress and improvement
0 Projects complete
I studied at BCIT, worked in fast food, retail, warehouse, web development, and on many personal/school software projects
With no prior professional experience in testing, I quickly adapted by diligently documenting key information and learning essential skills within the first day, enabling me to start working on my first ticket by the second. I consistently demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning and improvement, which has allowed me to gain proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Maven, Bitbucket, PuTTY, and Jenkins within a few months. I also strengthened my skills in Java, applying it both in writing regression tests and developing new testing functionalities. Beyond test creation, I contributed by implementing a framework from scratch for parsing response bodies in CSV format and rewriting the existing codebase for XML processing to enhance the robustness of our tests.
BCIT prepared me for the future with its hands-on practical work. With the ongoing bachelor's degree I am working towards, I have taken the role of lead developer for a group project involving our unity horror game: The Soul of Rain. It has developed my software engineering, project management, game design, math and physics skills.
Here I have developed a strong work ethic through consistent high quality and efficient delivery of work. I have taken on major responsibilities such as managing a five kilometer conveyor belt system on my own, being a sorter operator, and operating heavy machinery. I became the main sorter operator in the warehouse, and priority sorter trainer for my coworkers.
Working two jobs alongside my studies at BCIT was a struggle, but I overcame this adversary through strong multi-tasking and time management for balancing work/school, prioritizing the correct projects and homework. The diploma program has taught me general programming skills including procedural programming, databases, algorithms, C++ and put lots of emphasis on java.
I was hired for a one month contract job to develop Napsteel.com in September 2021. Cascadia Metals provided me screenshots of their older website so I could develop each page and adhere to their UI/UX design. I imported a styling template I developed in school for their website's sleek/modern appearance.
Working in retail, I have improved my communication and organizational skills through exceptional customer service, organization and designing product layouts or balloon bouquets.
